Location: 835 Market, between 4th/5th.
In the early 1890s, widow Abbey M. Parrott commissioned architect Albert Plessis to design a large commercial building on Market between 4th/5th. Originally called Parrott Building #2 and later more commonly known as the Emporium building, it withstood the 1906 earthquake but was badly damaged by the fire, and the store relocated temporarily to Van Ness while the building on Market was being rebuilt. After many subsequent alterations, the building is now Westfield San Francisco Centre.
The American 2020 stereoview below looks north from Natoma/5th (not National/5th as the caption says) toward the destroyed Emporium, with Market Street just beyond. The large 12-story building on the north side of Market is the Flood Building.
